+ What is branded content/content marketing?
Think of branded content as content marketing...because it is. Today, relationships between brands and consumers evolve quickly. Brands are eager to connect in relevant ways with their ideal audience. Content marketing (aka branded content) focuses on the consumer because making that human connection is irresistible. These are my favorite definitions:
"Content marketing (n.): The use of storytelling to build relationships with consumers by providing them with something entertaining or useful." — The Content Strategist
"Branded content is any content that can be associated with a brand in the eye of the beholder." — Branded Content Marketing Association
With emphasis on entertainment, useful, and associated with a brand, the capacity for creative content is virtually endless.
+ Do you run your own casting agency?
I specialize in 'real people' casting and work alongside interested brands or production companies looking for casting help. My work is project-based and consists of heavy research, interviewing and pitching final talent selects to the production team. Think: Dove's recent soap campaign featuring real women.
+ What do writing and casting have in common?
So much! Like I say on my About page, I love pre-production. Pre-production encompasses all the creative and logistical pieces of a production before anything is actually shot. It includes writing, casting, location scouting, budgeting, planning, renting gear, rehearsing and hiring crew.
With my love of storytelling and channeling other people's energy, I thrive when I'm writing and casting roles. It allows me to play with the tone, characters, theme and message of the final product. After all, it's all about the story. Finding and crafting these two elements for different brands and creative agencies challenges me and fulfills me more than I knew possible.
+ Do you travel for casting jobs?
No, not really. Though I love to travel, most of my work on casting projects is local and in-person or remote and via video calls. I do love working in person when I can and try to make it work if travel is part of the deal. After all, reading people is all about observing the little moments and getting to know the talent one-on-one.
+ How many clients do you work with at once?
Generally, I'm working with one to three clients at a time. I find that makes everyone happy and keeps me organized and sane. I take care when booking clients to be clear with all parties and know how to weigh your needs with my abilities and resources. It's true that we all have as many hours in a day as Beyonce, but we don't all have her personal team. If you ever have questions about scheduling, feel free to reach out.
+ What are your rates?
I offer packages of each service for your convenience, though I'm always open to cusomizing projects. Say hello and let me know what you'd like to work on together.
+ What is the client portal?
Once we sign together, you have the option of logging in to a secure, private portal that houses each questionnaire, contract, and invoice in one convenient location. You can download PDF versions anytime, but there's no need to worry about paper trails or losing documents.
+ What's the best way to get in touch?
You can always reach me here. Or shoot me an email: hello [at] bykatypalmer [dot] com.
+ What if I'd rather meet in person?
I'd love to! Sign up for my Coffee Hours and choose a time that works for you.
